SOLDOTNA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE
February 23, 2018

AND THE DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNLESS AND UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY**
On 2/10/2018 about 5:15 a.m., Soldotna police contacted a suspicious vehicle at the Kenai Peninsula College. Investigation showed that Johnathon D. Smith, 30, of Kasilof, had cut a lock and was attempting to steal fuel from vehicles. Smith was charged with criminal trespass in the first degree and criminal mischief in the fifth degree.
On 02-14-18 at 5:01 p.m., Soldotna police contacted Brandon Armbrust, 32, of Sterling, and arrested him on an outstanding warrant. He was taken to Wildwood on $500 bail.
On 02/16/18, Soldotna police received a report of the theft of an LED light bar from a vehicle at a business on the Sterling Highway. Investigation led to Jonathon D. Smith, 30, of Kasilof, being issued criminal citations for criminal trespass in the first degree, theft in the fourth degree and criminal mischief in the fifth degree.
On 2/20/18 at 6:29 p.m., Soldotna police contacted the driver of a vehicle in a parking lot on the Kenai Spur Highway near Park Avenue after a reddi report was received. Sarah Theis, 38, of Anchorage, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and taken to Wildwood on a $1000 bail.
On 2-22-18 at 9:46 am, Soldotna police responded to residence on Marydale Avenue for a disturbance. Matthew F. Scarito, 36, of Soldotna, was arrested for assault in the fourth degree, interfering with the report of domestic violence and violating his conditions of release. He was taken to Wildwood and held without bail.
On 2-22-18 at 3:04 p.m., Soldotna police responded to the Sportsman’s Warehouse for a shoplifter. Jeffrey Sapinoro-Maher, 37, of Homer, was issued a municipal citation for theft in the fourth degree and released.
