Soldotna Police warn of telephone scam
The Soldotna Police Department would like to inform the public of a scam that is currently circulating.
Recently, members of the public have received telephone calls from persons claiming to be law enforcement officers. The caller claims there is a warrant for their arrest that, can be cleared if they send money. The telephone number that shows up on the caller ID appears to be from a valid law enforcement agency.
Please be aware, law enforcement agencies in the State of Alaska do not solicit payment over the phone. All monetary issues are handled through the Alaska Court System.
If you receive a call from a person regarding warrants and requesting money, DO NOT COMPLY. Hang up, and contact local law enforcement or the Alaska State Troopers. Complaints can also be filed with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov/complaint
