Soldotna Police Department logoMISSION STATEMENTThe mission of the Soldotna Police Department is to protect and serve the public through an open, professional community partnership with citizen involvement; and to provide a safe place for people to live, work, and visit by enforcing all laws fairly and without bias.

VISION STATEMENTMembers of the Soldotna Police Department will be consummate professionals and will be an example of a progressive agency. We will be self-sufficient and will never ask for what we are not willing to give.

DEPARTMENT HISTORYIn response to the needs of a growing community, the Soldotna Police Department was established in 1969. We are proud to represent a progressive young city that is the epitome of Alaska's last frontier. With a population of just over 4,000 people, Soldotna is one of only four first-class cities on Alaska's scenic Kenai Peninsula -- an area with the same geographic mass as the states of Massachusetts and New Jersey combined. Our town is also the Borough seat and the primary business hub for the surrounding area.

Each summer, tens of thousands of visitors from all parts of the globe flock to our community to enjoy spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and to try their luck at sport fishing on the banks of the world-renowned Kenai River. Proudly, our tourism-oriented city has more riverside parks within its boundaries than any other town in Alaska.

The officers of the Soldotna Police Department bring enthusiastic dedication to even the most mundane tasks of law enforcement. Whether doing traffic enforcement, keeping the peace, or investigating crime, they perform their duties with pride and competence. Active crime-prevention programs and school-outreach programs provide opportunities to interact with the public in a community-oriented role. Most officers not only live within the city limits but are fully invested in community organizations. They feel Soldotna is a great place to raise a family in addition to being a great place to work.

While the Soldotna Police Department is not large in size, we think of ourselves as being huge in heart and pride ourselves in being innovative in our efforts to provide the highest possible level of service to our community.
